Benjamin W. Fleishman (he/him and they/them) is a Boston-based bass trombonist, composer, and educator. Growing up in Seattle, he performed as a member of the nationally-recognized Garfield High School Jazz Band and was a three-time participant in the Seattle Symphony Young Composers Workshop. They are currently a third-year music education major at the Boston University College of Fine Arts and study bass trombone with Gabriel Rice (Vermont Symphony, Hartford Symphony, Rhode Island Philharmonic) and Eden Garza (Seattle Symphony). He is the vice president of the Boston University chapter of the Collegiate National Association for Music Education and a multi-year attendee of the International Trombone Festival.
Benjamin maintains an active performance schedule in both Boston and Seattle, performing with the Boston University Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, and Trombone Choir during the academic year as well as the Northwest Mahler Festival and Ballard Sedentary Sousa Band during the summer. He plans to complete his student teaching placements in spring 2027 and enter the workforce as a certified public school music teacher in the fall of the same year.
